Since 1991, the Utah Microloan Fund has helped Utah’s small business owners turn their ideas into reality.

We’re a nonprofit lender recognized as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), providing financing to entrepreneurs and communities that traditional banks often overlook.

Based in Salt Lake City, we proudly serve businesses across all of Utah.

Our mission is to strengthen communities throughout Utah by providing business education and microloans to entrepreneurs in start-up & existing businesses that do not qualify for traditional funding sources.

We envision a future where individuals across Utah succeed in building their businesses with practical tools, resources, and guidance tailored to their needs.

Who We Serve

We help people who:

Are just starting out and don’t have an operating history.
Don’t have enough collateral or cash flow for a traditional bank loan.
Have had life events that have impacted their credit history.
Are looking to continue their business education.

We are unable to fund:

MLM's
Real estate or building purchases
Businesses not registered in the state of Utah
Anyone in an active bankruptcy

Our Process

We want to ensure you feel ready and prepared to apply for a loan. Let us walk you through the basic steps we’ll take together so that you know what to expect.

Complete Loan Orientation

Held every Tuesday at 9am virtually. Sign up at www.utahmicroloanfund.org/upcomingclasses

Fill Out Inquiry Form

This form includes information about you, your business, and the funding you are looking for. Once verified, we will then add you to Lenderfit, our online application system.

Complete Your Application

You will submit your application and supporting documents including:
Tax returns, financial info, business plan, cashflow, etc. This also includes a $50 application fee paid.

Present to Our Team

Once your application is complete you will present to our team. We will set up a date for you to present virtually via Zoom. This is a 30 minute meeting.

If Approved

We will close your loan in approximately one week after you submit the necessary closing documents in order to receive your funds.
